Lives and works in London
Claire Lee Yih is an emerging oil painting artist trained with both architectural and fine art background. Graduated from Central Saint Martins (UAL) and Sotheby’s Institute of Art, she was also a former member of Christie’s The Young Collectors in London. Her work has been selected to exhibit in prestigious venues, including the London Biennale of Women in Art, Venice International Art Fair, Saatchi Gallery and Mall Galleries.
Lee investigates the complexities of our contemporary living through her art. She draws inspiration from children’s literature including stories from Hans Christian Andersen and illustrations from Edward Gorey. Using classical painterly techniques, she engages influences from her Southeast Asian childhood with her experiences living in Europe. Her subjects often range from the imaginative and mysterious to the ironic and conflicted, crafting layered narratives that delve into the nuances of our contemporary society.
